Guess what?!?!

Exciting news! After raising money since November 2010, God has provided all my support with donations or pledges and I'll be moving to Peru in June! :-)

Some of you are may be like "What? You're moving to Peru? When did that happen?". Most of you know my life story but for the benefit of anyone who might just randomly read this blog, I will do a short recap.

I went to Peru for the first time when I was 15 on a mission trip with my church. I fell in love with it and knew from that first trip that God wanted me to come back down one day for an extended period of time to do mission work there. So, 11 years later, I have finished highschool, college, gotten my nursing license and worked for a couple years as a pediatric nurse; it is time to go finally!

I am going down to do medical work with Peru mission, a Presbyterian mission started about 12-13 years ago in Trujillo and Cajamarca, Peru. I will be helping in the 2 medical clinics and also assisting in starting/working in the mission hospital when it is finished being built.

How is all of this possible you might ask? Well it is nothing I did that is for sure! So many churches, friends, family members, and random amazing people have donated or pledged to donate monthly to support with financially and prayerfully. Without them, I wouldn't be going anywhere! My last bit of support flooded in in ways only God could have done and now it is time to prepare to leave.

When: I will finish working the beginning of May at the Children's hospital in Greenville and then move beginning of June.

Where: I will be spending 3 months in Arequipa, Peru living with a host family and going to language school to learn Spanish. Then, Lord willing, I will be moving to Trujillo to begin working with the team there in early September! It's been several years since school so this is gonna be a culture shock in more than 1 way!

So! That is my story and I have the time to tell you all that right now because I am actually sitting in the Lima airport on my way to visit a friend in Peru for a wedding right now. I'll be here for about a week and then head back home for a couple of months before the big move.

My hopes for this blog are to show what I go through during the next few months as I prepare for Peru and then all the craziness of life as a missionary :-)

I love emails, comments, new friends, and suggestions on my blog to make it better...(I'm brand new at this so I have no idea what I'm doing!).

Time to go use my dunkin donuts breakfast voucher now that the airlines gave me....
